Yody Coffee & Family Specialty Coffee Maerim sits quietly a short walk from the Four Seasons hotel in Mae Rim, offering a calm retreat for coffee lovers who appreciate small-batch, thoughtfully roasted brews. This cafe draws in locals and travelers looking for a mellow spot to slow down, particularly in the mornings and early afternoons when natural light softens the seating areas.

The atmosphere balances casual comfort with a subtle personality—Yody, the owner, has filled the space with a noteworthy collection of Star Wars memorabilia and vintage records, giving the cafe a character beyond just its coffee. It’s the kind of place that sparks quiet conversations or peaceful moments flipped through vinyl, making it appealing if you’re after a laid-back experience with a creative flair.

On the coffee front, Yody Coffee & Family prides itself on quality and distinctiveness. The house blend and in-house dark roasts tend to lean smooth and rich without the burnt bitterness found at many larger chains. Whether you prefer an iced Americano or a creamy latte, the offerings satisfy those who like to savor each cup without rush. For enthusiasts looking to take a taste home, their whiskey-infused beans provide a mellow, layered flavor that stands out from the usual coffee selections.

One notable aspect is the homemade bakery treats, prepared by Yody’s wife, which lean toward lighter sweetness—a good complement to the coffee without overwhelming it. This thoughtful pairing adds to the simplicity of the visit without pushing you toward overly sugary options.

Traffic here tends to be low-key, partly because the shop feels intimate with a small team managing front of house and cafe duties simultaneously. This can mean a more personal encounter with staff if you have questions, though at peak times it might slow response to detailed queries. The space also includes some outdoor seating, perfect for a relaxed sip while taking in the warm Mae Rim air or chatting with friends.

  • Best for: Coffee drinkers who appreciate nuanced roasts, collectors or fans of Star Wars memorabilia, and those seeking a quiet pause away from busy Chiang Mai.
  • Who will enjoy it most: Solo visitors craving quality espresso drinks, couples or small groups who want a casual yet interesting spot to linger, and individuals interested in local specialty coffee culture.
  • Best time to visit: Mornings and early afternoons when the cafe feels calm and natural light enhances the setting.
  • Atmosphere: Inviting and personal, with a mix of warm family hospitality and a relaxed vibe enhanced by unique collectibles and music.

Well this is a hidden gem for anyone whom happened to be around or passing Mae Rim. The place just a 2 mins walk from 4Season hotel. This secret place held top rank quality coffee like no one else in Chiangmai. His coffee has unique features in a good way which distinct himself from mass market coffee shop. In addition, variety of bakeries made by his wife is superb in quality with less sweetness comparing to other sugar overloaded brands. You can unlock the DJ skills of baristas when coming in the less crowded afternoon to experience the lifetime collection of his vinyls. The place is loaded with antique stuff, craftsmanship, and creativity you can enjoy besides superb caffeine taken. Both body and mind will be energized I can guarantee.

If you're ever in Mae Rim, this café is a must-visit! The coffee here is exceptional—smooth, rich, and always hits the spot. I never leave without grabbing their unique whiskey-infused coffee beans to take home; they’re so mellow and flavorful. The owner, a passionate Star Wars collector, the cafe is filled with incredible memorabilia. On my last visit, I noticed they expanded with a new section featuring an entire wall of lightsabers! The shop is brimming with cool Star Wars items, making it a visual treat. Highly recommend for great coffee and a geeky vibe!

Fantastic hidden gem of a coffee shop. Their in house dark roast is super smooth and enjoyable. The cafe itself has an amazing collection of star wars memorabilia as well as records. Run by Yody and his family, just a really cool spot. Worth the drive up or as a pit stop if you're up this way.

What a great find. On arrival we where welcomed with happy smiling beautiful people. It was so relaxing out the front but inside WOW what a surprise. Yes I'm a Star wars fan. This place is unbelievable. After a walk around investigating the great collection we sat down for a thai iced tea and a mixed smoothie. Both perfect. Then came a Japanese cheese cake for my wife and Chicken teriyaki on rice . Well both where Awesome. Do yourself a favour a d go here. A nice little drive. We will definitely be back

They have great coffee options here. 3 Roasts to choose from. They have many blend options. The customer service is professional and knowledgeable. The down side to this place is, that there is only 1 person working here. She is also cleaning tables as well. The only woman working is too busy to answer our questions about the history of this wonderful little coffee shop. This shop could use more employee customer service. This shop has a beautiful garden seating area with enough seating for many people. No AC

Check for exact location on Google maps but basically you head north west out of Chiang Mai on the 107 then the 4087. The journey from Chiang Mai central is about 40 minutes depending on traffic. The Yody Coffee shop is is a large themed restaurant with inside and outside seating. The theme being Star Wars, with countless items of Star Wars memorabilia within the restaurant. Star Wars fans will not be disappointed. There were some interesting plants and flowers outside the restaurant and in the neighbouring vicinity. We stopped and looked around and enjoyed delicious coffees - which were a little expensive at 80 baht for a small cup. Service was a little slow but good. Well worth a stopover if you're heading north west from Chiang Mai.
